"It is more fitting for a man to laugh at life than to lament over it."
Today I woke up and decided I was going to take care of some things. Then next week I could focus and get back on track with my mindful eating, exercising, and taking care of myself. So I went to Olathe and bought a new recliner chair for Ed, some bath accessories he needs, and some touch lamps. I'm feeling pretty darn proud of all that I have accomplished. Then - on the way home - I get on the interstate and the top half of the chair blows out of the back of the truck. Yikes! I nearly cause an accident (or two). I try to back up on the shoulder to get even with the chair back I hope to retrieve. But, I'm so focused on watching to see if my chair is going to be smashed I almost end up in the ditch. So I abandon the vehicle and run back. When there's a break in traffic I make a run for it and grab the chair top. Whew! Success! Only minor, repairable damage to the chair!
I felt pretty frazzled for awhile. Then I thought, what the heck. Better to laugh than cry. After all, somehow neither the chair nor myself got smashed on the interstate!
It is more fitting for a man to laugh at life than to lament over it.
