Day 39, February 2

"Never allow failed attempts to dampen your spirit; let them only spur you to succeed."

Mindful eating has been one of my priorities for the year. I made a lot of progress in this area. Then, life got in the way and old habits returned. Tonight I did a Google search looking for some tips to help me get back on track. I found the perfect article on the website mindfulnutritionseattle.com. The article caught my intention with the following phrase that hit home with me: "The intention to pause and tune into your body’s cues feels like a distant memory." That's exactly how I feel! The following suggestions were provided:

I should ask myself, what would I say to a friend in a similar situation? Chances are good that I would say - "Janet, you've had a rough few weeks, don't be so hard on yourself!" I wouldn't say, "What's wrong with you?"

I should connect with my desire to feel better.

I should identify what my body most wants right now. More energy? Better sleep?

What's a simple step I can take to get back on track? This is what I'm going to figure out! There's a lot new and different happening in my life right now with Ed's medical problems. But that doesn't mean that each day I can't do something to move towards getting back on track with my own health goals.

Check back - and I'll let you know of my progress.
