My Story

Hi and welcome! I'm Janet and I am embarking on a journey to change the way I think, the way I feel, the way I live! Being an avid reader of "self help" books and blogs, I have encountered a lot of advice on mindful living and its many advantages. As someone who struggles with anxiety and worry, I find this concept of "living for the moment" very appealing! I am 56 years old. I am a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher, among many other unique, wonderful things. I am also a worrier! Over the past 10 years a lot has happened in my life.  Some joyous - like the births of my five grandchildren, some heart wrenching, like the death of both of my parents, and some life changing, like the diagnosis of a serious illness for myself and a new disability for my husband. Through it all, I've learned that you never know what will happen in life so there is no point in constantly worrying, and I should "enjoy the moment". However, knowing this and living it,  especially for someone who innately struggles with anxiety, are two different things.  So, while I have read, planned, and contemplated about how to live mindfully, I have never fully embraced the concept and taken action - until now!!

I actually made the decision to do this yesterday, Christmas 2016, as a gift to myself. Of course I had to spend a day contemplating and worrying about it (yes - I have a ways to go with this), but today I have decided to take action.

Through this blog, I plan to share things I have learned from others on living mindfully, as well as document my daily successes and struggles. I'm new to blogging, so hopefully I'll learn some things about that along the way. I would love for others that want to make some kind of change to join me in this journey.
